Apply Online

  1. The Application is available in the following Link
  2. If the applicant is an existing user, they can login directly using their “Username” and “Password”.
  3. If the applicant is a new user, they have to register first by clicking on the “Register” option.
  4. An applicant has to provide their own email address when they create an account.
  5. While registering, applicant has to provide all necessary information in the application form and finally click on “Register” button.
  6. Once the registration is successful, the applicant can login with their “Username” and “Password”.
  7. After logging in, the applicant has to choose the service necessary for them.
  8. The Applicant must provide all information necessary for the application procedure online.
  9. The fee of this procedure is mentioned under the “Fees” section of this page.
  10. The processing time of this procedure is 10 days.
  11. The NFA Division will return an approved copy to the transferor along with the firearm to the transferee once the application has been granted.
  12. The physical transfer of the handgun must be accomplished as soon as the application is authorised and received, because it registers the firearm with the transferee.
  13. The transferor must contact the NFA Division with the specifics if the physical transfer of the firearm cannot be done immediately.

  • Send both copies of the ATF Form 3 and any attachments to the address on the face side of the ATF Form 3 in the upper right hand corner.
  • Returning the application or mailing it to an alternate address will just cause the procedure to be delayed.

Need for the DocumentEdit

This form is used to request permission to transfer a firearm from one qualified federal firearms licensee (FFL) to another qualified special taxpayer under the National Firearms Act (NFA).

  • The transferor is not liable for the transfer tax in certain situations.
  • Before the transfer may take place, ATF must approve the paperwork.
  • If the transfer, receipt, or possession of the firearm would put the transferee in violation of any federal, state, or local law, the ATF will not authorise the form.
