- Apply for Tax-Exempt Transfer of Firearm and Registration to Special Occupational Firearms, the applicant has to use the following link
- If the applicant is an existing user, they can login directly using their “Username” and “Password”.
- If the applicant is a new user, they have to register first by clicking on the “Register” option.
- An applicant has to provide their own email address when they create an account.
- While registering, applicant has to provide all necessary information in the application form and finally click on “Register” button.
- Once the registration is successful, the applicant can login with their “Username” and “Password”.
- After logging in, the applicant has to choose the service necessary for them.
- The Applicant must provide all information necessary for the application procedure online.

- The processing time of this procedure is 10 days.
- The NFA Division will return an approved copy to the transferor along with the firearm to the transferee once the application has been granted.
- The physical transfer of the handgun must be accomplished as soon as the application is authorised and received, because it registers the firearm with the transferee.
- The transferor must contact the NFA Division with the specifics if the physical transfer of the firearm cannot be done immediately.

- The applicant has to enter all the necessary details in the application form.
- Make sure that the applicant has to attach all the necessary documents that are mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
- The applicant has to attach the photocopies of the required documents along with the application form while submitting.
- Mail the completed form and the necessary documents to Federal Explosive Licensing Centre, the office address details are mentioned under the “Office Locations & Contacts” section of this page.
- The applicant has to pay the prescribed fee of $200 along with the application.
- Note: The application must be accompanied by the proper application fee, which the applicant can pay by check, credit card or money order (cash does not accepted).
- Once the application fee is processed, the Federal Firearms Licensing Centre (FELC) will enter the application information into its database and commence a full review of the application.
- As required by law, the FFLC will then conduct an electronic background check on all the responsible Persons that the applicant have identified on their application.
- Then the FELC will then send the applications to the nearest ATF field office having responsibility for the area in which the business is located.
- The field office supervisor will issue an assignment to an Industry Operations Investigator (IOI) who will conduct an in-person interview with the applicant.
- After inspection, assuming that all background checks have been completed and your business address and proposed business operations are in compliance with state and local law, the FELC will complete the application processing and issue the license.
- The processing time will take approximately 60 days from the receipt of a properly completed application.
