Apply In-Person

  • To apply for renewal of certificate of vehicle registration in Sikkim, the applicant has to approach the RTO office of the area.
  • Information related to the RTO offices and registering authority can be obtained from the “Office and Location” Section of this page.
  • You will have to submit Application in front of registering authority within seven days of purchase of vehicle along with the documents.
  • The application shall be made in application Form no-25 to the RTO
  • The application form no 25 can be downloaded through following link: Form 25
  • Please make sure you have all the documents that are listed down the “Required Document” section of this page.
  • Application forms can be obtained from the appropriate RTO offices that should be completed and presented with appropriate fees.
  • Present the completed application forms in one of the counter and pay the appropriate fee where the officials would start processing your application.

  • Any vehicle whose registration is about to expire not less than 60 days is eligible for renewal of registration.

  3. LMV ( Light commercial vehicle ) Rs 300.00
  4. Medium passenger vehicle Rs 400.00
  5. Heavy passenger vehicle Rs 600.00
  6. Imported motorcycle Rs 200.00
  7. Motorcycle Rs 60.00
  8. Medium goods vehicle Rs 400.00

Guidelines for application
  1. Apply for renewal of certificate of registration in Form 25 to the Registering Authority in whose jurisdiction the vehicle is, not more than 60 days before the date of its expiry
  2. Pay the due taxes on vehicle, if any
  3. Pay appropriate fee as specified in Rule 81 of the Central Motor Vehicle Rules 1989

Need for the DocumentEdit


  • Every registration certificate is required to be renewed not more than 60 days before the date of its expiry of the registration for its continuous use. Renewal of the vehicle registration certificate is important as Vehicle Registration is mandatory under the law and is essential to prove the ownership of a vehicle. It is also required during the sale of a vehicle and transfer of its ownership.
