Apply In-Person

  1. To Renew Tourist Vehicle Permit (Jeep/Omni/Car) Permit in Maharashtra the applicant has to approach the RTO office to which your area belongs to. Following link can provide you information related to the list of RTO office: link
  2. An application form will be provided to the applicant by the concerned officer. Or the applicant can download the application form from the following link link
  3. The applicant has to fill in all the necessary details in the application form. (Incomplete applications are not accepted)
  4. Make sure that the applicant has to attach all the necessary documents that are mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
  5. The applicant has to attach the photocopies of the required documents along with the application form while submitting.
  6. Submit all the documents with the completed form to the concerned officer.
  7. The applicant has to pay the prescribed fee as requested by the authority.
  8. After receiving the application, the concerned authority will check the submitted application and document set. If all are in place, the application will be accepted.
  9. An acknowledgment receipt will be provided. Please save it for future reference, it contains the application summary and contact details of the person to be contacted.
  10. Then the application will be processed further. All the updates on the application status will be sent via SMS to the applicant’s mobile number.
  11. The processing time for this procedure takes up to 10 - 15 days.

  • Copy of No Objection Certificate issued by the office of the deputy

EligibilityEdit

A Person already having Tourist Vehicle Permit is eligible to apply.



FeesEdit

Rs 500/- per year for tourist permit in the form of Demand Draft drawn in favour of the Secretary (State Transport Authority).

ValidityEdit

  • A tourist permit shall be deemed to be invalid from the date on which the motor vehicle covered by the permit completes 9 years in the case of a motor cab and 8 years where the motor vehicle is other than a motor cab, unless the motor vehicle is replaced;
  • Where a vehicle covered by a tourist pennit is proposed to be replaced by another, the latter vehicle shall not be more than two years old on the date of such replacement.


NOTE: For the purposes of this sub-rule, the period of [9 years or 8 years] shall be computed from the date of initial registration of the motor vehicle.

Applicants may approach the Office of the Deputy Commissioner / Chairman (STA) who is in charge of issuing and renewing of Tourist Vehicle Permits.

Need for the DocumentEdit

Permit is an instrument issued by a State or Regional Transport Authority authorizing the use of a motor vehicle as a transport vehicle in specified manner as per the relevant provisions of Motor Vehicle Act and rules framed their under. Section 66 of Motor Vehicle Act, 1988 mandates for necessity of permit to transport vehicles. However, transport vehicles belonging to Central or State Government, police, local body, fire brigade, ambulance, cranes and goods vehicle having gross vehicle weight not exceeding 3000 kilograms are exempted from the necessity of permit. The vehicle permit should be renewed when it has expired or about to expire.
