ProcedureEdit

  1. An application in Form-A is submitted by the applicant along with all the required documents.
  2. If the applicant has not reported to the Police and the Chief Wildlife Warden , he is given one week to do so. Their reports are verified by the department's officials and after that an interview of the applicant is conducted before the District Commissioner.
  3. Only, after getting the verification report by DC, the filled Arms License Book is issued to the applicant.
  4. Then, the applicant has to purchase the weapon within six months of the issued date of the arms license book.
  5. After purchasing the weapon, applicant has to come to the Arms Licensing Branch and submit the purchased weapon, an application for the entry of the weapon, receipt from the Gun house, and the arms license book.
  6. After inspection, the District Magistrate signs the Arms License book, and the book is issued to the applicant.



Apply Online

  1. To Apply for New Firearm (Gun) License, the applicant has to use the following link – link
  2. The applicant has to click the “State Home Department/DM/SDM/Other/MHA” button.
  3. Now select the category, state, district, name of the licensing authority, and service.
  4. The applicant has to enter the unique identification code (UIC), and captcha code and click the “Get Detail” button.
  5. To complete step – 2, the applicant has to enter all the details in license specific details segment.
  6. For the third step complete the endorsement details.
  7. And upload all the necessary documents which are mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
  8. Fee details will be mentioned in the following step; the applicant has to pay the fee online mode.
  9. After completing all the processes, the applicant has to click the “Save & Submit” button.
  10. An acknowledgment receipt will be downloaded. Please save it for future reference, it contains the application summary and contact details of the person to be contacted.
  11. Then the application will be processed further. All the updates on the application status will be sent via SMS to the applicant’s mobile number.
  12. Once the process gets completed successfully, the applicant gets the cancellation firearm license with the authority's signature through email.
  13. The processing time for this procedure is up to 45 days.

  • Aadhaar Card
  • Arms License Book.
  • Three passport size photographs.
  • Two Character Certificates (Issued by the Prominent Citizens).
  • Proof of Residence.
  • Date of Birth Proof.
  • Receipt of the fee.
  • Police Report.
  • Affidavit to the effect that:
    • The licensed arms shall not be used for hunting ,shooting and poaching of wild animals.
    • The licensee will get his arms registered with the Chief Wild Life Warden with in the month of its purchase.
  • Report of Chief Wildlife Warden.
  • In case of member/officer/official of the Armed Forces of the Union, his applicant may be routed through his commending officer, with recommendation.

EligibilityEdit

The license authority shall refuse to grant a license:

  • Where such license is required in respect of any prohibited arms or prohibited ammunition;
  • Where such is required by a person whom the licensing authority has reason to believe:
    • To be prohibited by the Indian Arms Rules or by any other law for the time being in force from acquiring, having in his possession or carrying any arms or ammunition.
    • To be of unsound mind.
    • To be for any reason unfit for a license.

  • Fee in Rs. for New License (for one year) - 100
  • For Renewal of the License (for 3 years) - 150
  • Late Fee - 50


Riffle

  • Fee in Rs. for New License (for one year) - 60
  • For Renewal of the License (for 3 years) - 90
  • Late Fee - 30


Gun

  • Fee in Rs. for New License (for one year) - 40
  • For Renewal of the License (for 3 years) - 60
  • Late Fee - 20



ValidityEdit

  • A license shall unless revoked earlier, continue in force for a period of three years from the date on which it is granted.
  • However, such a license may be granted for a shorter period if the person by whom the license is required so desires or if the licensing authority for reasons to be recorded in writing considers in any case that the license should be granted for a shorter period.
  • Every license shall, unless the licensing authority for reasons to be recorded in writing otherwise decides in any case, the renewable for the same period for which the license was originally granted and shall be so renewable from time to time.

  • Present and permanent address
  • Date of birth, age
  • Occupation and designation
  • Whether the applicant has been:
    • Convicted if so, (the offenses),the sentence and date of sentence.
    • Ordered to execute a bond under chapter VIII of Cr. P. C. for keeping the peace or for good behavior if so when and for what period.
    • Prohibited under the Arms Act, 1959 or any other law from having the arms/ ammunition.
  • Whether the applicant applied for a licence before if so when to whom & with what result.
  • Whether the applicants licence was over suspended or cancelled/ revoked if so, when and by whom and on what account.
  • Whether any other member of the applicants family is in possession of an arms licenses if so particulars thereof.
  • Whether the applicant :
    • Is a licensee or esteem if so, description of arms hold.
    • Has a safe place for keep the arm.
  • Particulars of Licence



Need for the DocumentEdit

Any person who wishes to carry firearms must first secure a license to do so. Every application for the grant of a license shall be submitted in Form A.
