- To apply for a Special Vehicle Permit in Karnataka the applicant has to approach the RTO office where the permit was obtained. Following link can provide you information related to the list of RTO office: Contact link
- Application forms can be obtained from the RTO office.
- Make sure that all the required documents are in hand.
- Application forms can be obtained from the appropriate RTO offices that can be completed and presented with appropriate fees.
- Please make sure you have all the documents that are listed down the “Required Document” section of this page.
- Present the completed application forms in one of the counter and pay the appropriate fee where the officials would start processing your application.
- After checking the vehicle for its correctness and other appropriate requirements the application will be processed.

- PROOF OF ADDRESS (any one of the following to be produced)
- Ration Card / Aadhaar Card / Electoral Roll / LIC Policy / Passport / Pay slip issued - Govt. Office (or) a Local Body
- Age proof (School Certificate / Birth Certificate)
- Affidavit Sworn by the applicant before an Executive (or) a First Class Judicial Magistrate (or) Notary Public
- Registration Certificate
- Insurance Certificate
- Pollution under control certificate
- Valid tax
- Copy of registration of Company/Firm/Institute
- Passport size photo-2
- Valid Fitness Certificate
- No-objection Certificate from the financier if the vehicle is covered by hire purchase Agreement/Hypothecation/Lease.
- Payment of green tax wherever applicable.

ValidityEdit
- Special Permit is valid for 5 years and issued for concerned region only.
- Renewal of permit can be obtained with Vehicle fitness certificate and FC as per authorities of concerned RTO.
- The age of the vehicle also limits the validity.

Need for the DocumentEdit
- Special permits are granted to those Transport Vehicles which intends to ply to a State other than the Home State. Special Permits are issued in some special occasion and remain valid for a very limited period or for one round trip.
- An application for a permit to use a motor vehicle as a private service vehicle shall contain the following particulars, namely:--
- Type and seating capacity of the vehicle
- The area or the route or routes to which the application relates
- The manner in which it is claimed that the purpose of carrying persons
Information which might helpEdit
- One needs to provide the declaration to use the vehicle only for faring employees or laborers of a Company/Firm/Institute to ferry them to the place of business or back.
- Disproportionate asset case should not be pending against the vehicle for issue of permit.
