Procedure

Apply In-Person:

1. The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy - MNRE, has appointed Energy Efficiency Services Limited - EESL (A Joint Venture Company of PSUs of Ministry of Power, Government of India) to install solar street lighting systems in rural, semi urban and urban areas in the states where household electrification is less than 50% as per 2011 census under the “Atal Jyoti Yojana – AJAY” scheme in different phases.
2. Under the guidance of the respective Member of Parliament (MP) this scheme will be implemented for the needs and aspirations of the local people.
3. The MPs will send the recommendation to the designated officer of EESL.
4. Based on the sanction for the respective state, the EESL will evaluate the recommendations of the MP’s. If the recommended place falls under the scheme covered area, then the proposal will be approved by the EESL.
5. Thee EESL will forward the proposal to the MNRE for sanction of amount. Once the MNRE sanctions the proposal, The EESL will intimate the approval to the respective MP’s.
6. The respective MP will sanction MPLADS (Members of Parliament Local Area Development Scheme) contribution of 25% based on the estimated cost.
7. The respective district authority will release the amount as per the applicable norms.
8. The implementation of the scheme will happen as per the department's schedule.
9. Out of the total cost of the scheme, MNRE will provide 75% of the cost of street lights and the remaining 25% will come from Member of Parliament Local Area Development funds (MPLADS).

Eligibility

• The rural, semi-urban and urban areas that face less than 50% grid connectivity are covered under this scheme.
• The scheme will be available for a period of one year from the date of issue of this administrative approval.
