Procedure

Apply In-Person:

1. To Renew a Bookmaker License approach the Ghana gaming commission office.
2. Contact and address details of the office can be found in the following link.contact link
3. Applicant has to approach the gaming commission office and applicant can get their renewal application form to obtain Bookmaker License.
4. Applicant has to enter all the information in the application form.
5. The applicant has to make sure that he or she has all the required documents that are required for this process to be successful and they can be found under the "Required Documents" section of this page.
6. Payment of appropriate fees should be made and that can be found under the "Fees" section of this page.
7. Pay the required fees and submit the receipt together with the required documents.
8. Officials from the betting control and licensing board will go through your renewal application and required documents.
9. This will be followed by a visit of the boards officers to the business premises to carry out investigations to confirm the business premises has been maintained the sets standards.
10. Once everything is in order, the board will issue to applicant with the renewed bookmaker license.
11. This process usually takes a period of one month.

• The identity (ies) of new applicants

• The gaming industry in Ghana was previously regulated under the Lotteries and Betting Act, 1960 (Act31), the Football Pools Authority Act 1961, (Act 78) the Gambling Machines Decree 1973 (NRCD 174) and Casino Licensing Decree 1975 (NRCD 320).Until the establishment of the Gaming Commission, the Ministry of the Interior had oversight responsibility for the regulation of Casinos and other games of chance.
• The Gaming Act further states that ,where there is hindrance to the acquisition of property, the property may be acquired for the Commission under the State Property and Contracts Act, 1960 (C.A.6) or the State Lands Act, 1962 (Act 125) and the costs shall be borne by the Commission.
