Procedure

Apply Online Step 1: Register with the Tanzania Nursing and Midwifery Council (TNMC) Portal:

1. Using a browser, registered Nurses/midwives with the Tanzania Nursing and Midwifery Council (TNMC) should browse theTNMC Website.
2. Click on the “License Renewal” tab under the Online Services option, and read the instruction carefully, if already registered click on the “Log In” tab and log in to the portal using your (Email/ Password).
3. If not yet registered click on the “Proceed” tab, User will be navigated to the “Registration Form” and accurately fill out the following sections;
   • Personal Information Section; please fill in the names as they read in the practice license, enter the date of birth exactly as it appears on your birth certificate then click on the “Next” tab.
   • License Information Section; Enter the License number and then click on the “Verify” Tab, inputted license number is then verified by the system, if found click on the” Next” Tab.
     • Where the License number is not the same as the registrant details. Click “OK” then adjust no review.
   • Contact Information Section: Enter the phone numbers you are available at all times, and other Contact information as requested, then click on the “Next” tab.
   • Login Information section: Enter your email address and Password twice before clicking on the “Submit” tab. To Complete the Initial Registration.
     • While imputing the password please consider the example given on the site as a guideline.
4. After submitting the portal registration request, the system will take you to a form where you will fill in the Email and Password you registered.

Step 2: File the Application for renewal and issue the license

1. Once logged on to the portal, the User should note the application requirements, then click on the “Basic Requirement” tab; complete the secondary education information from Form Four (O level) and Sita (A level) for those who reached the sixth form then click “Save” tab.
   • In the case where you enter the wrong information click on the + icon to delete the inputted and make the required changes.
2. Under Professional Education; the system will automatically fill it out.
3. Under Work Experience: Enter employment details, and click the “Add’ tab, to fill in the Employment information according to the click on the “Save” tab.
4. Under Documents; upload all the supporting documentation as listed on the site, then click on the “Save” tab.
5. Under Continuing Professional Development (CPD); Fill in the CPD POINT number and enter the date you started and the date you finished as shown in the CPD log book. Then Attach your Logbook before clicking on the “Save” tab.
6. Under Declaration; the applicant should declare that the information provided is accurate before clicking on the “Save” tab. Ticking the box shall symbolize the applicant's signature
7. Under Apply for License Renewal; the system will automatically display the history of the license, (Last Renewal).
8. The system will ask the applicant after paying, where would the license to be sent, select then click on the “Save & Continue” tab,
9. After you save the system will be given a payment number. After generating the control number, the Applicant will get a message with the pending payment information. Proceed and make payment for the renewal either by direct bank deposit or mobile banking and share proof of payment with the portal.
10. Upon receipt of the completed application, the application is reviewed and the applicant will be notified when the license is ready to be collected or issued as specified by the applicant during the renewal application process.
11. One is required to bring proof of identification and surrender the expired license before being issued the renewed license.

Required Documents

• Two (2) recent identical colored passport photographs with white backgrounds.
• Copy of your National Identity Card [ID]/passport
• original nursing practice license.
• Photocopies of certificates of registration.
• Photocopy of certificate/logbook Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
• Original evidence of Payment of all applicable fees.
• Any other additional supporting documentation as requested by the Authority.

Eligibility

• The individual should be registered with the Council and a holder of a practicing license.
• To be of good reputation and commendable conduct.
• To have never been sentenced in a felony or misdemeanor (for a custodial penalty in a crime involving moral turpitude or breach of trust, unless rehabilitated in either case). In short, not to have a criminal record.

Fees

• Renewal license fees of Tsh 600.00.

Validity

• The practicing license expiry date is after every 1 year and shall be subjected to renewal and payment of an annual practice fee, this should be submitted on time before the lapse of the current license, to allow enough time for the renewal due process to be completed.
