Procedure

Apply In-Person:

1. Renewal of application for a Sugar Dealer Registration is done in person by visiting the Agriculture and Food Authority Board Head Offices in Ghana.

3. Certificates issued by the Authority expire on the 30th June of every year and license holders wishing for renewal thereof may apply by 1st June preceding the expiry of the license.
4. A Sugar Dealer Registration certificate holder shall be renewable by 30th June of every year upon payment of the renewal fees.
5. Visit the office and get a renewal application form as applicable to the applicant’s requirement, from the respective department.
6. Make sure that his/her have all the documents listed in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
7. In addition to the required documents the board will require the applicant to submit returns for the year.
8. Payment of appropriate fees should be made and that can be found under the "Fees" section of this page.
9. The completed renewal application form submitted to the respective office.
10. This will be followed by an inspection of applicant by the Board field Officers.
11. The Board field officers will make recommendations for renewal of the certificate and forward their report forwarded to Board’s Headquarters for the ultimate Board approval.
12. Upon a successful approval by the board a list of approved/ renewed Sugar Dealer Registration certificate is published in the Ghana gazette.
13. At this point the applicant is notified and he/she will be required to pay the respective license fees as prescribed by the board and submit the receipt as proof of payment.
14. Once the license renewal processing is done the Renewed Sugar Dealer Registration certificate is issued to the applicant by the Managing Director of the Agriculture and Food Authority.
15. Renewal certificate takes a maximum of 15 days to process.

• Renew application form
• Copy of current Sugar dealer registration certificate
• returns of amount of sugar dealt with in the previous year
• identification documents of the applicant (Copy of ID/ Passport / PIN)
• A tax compliance certificate from Ghana Revenue Authority for the non-natural person or individuals where applicable.
• Additional registration requirements shall be as communicated from time to time by the Authority.

Eligibility

• Any person, cooperative society, group or companies whose license is expired can apply for renewals.

Fees

• Application fees is GHS 1,000 (Non-refundable)
• The renewal registration fees are provides by the Sugar directorate officials.

Validity

• The registration is valid for a period of one year.
• The registration expires on the 30th June of every year.

• Details of Branch Office(s) if any
• Name, Address and Telephone of the Chief Executive.
• A statement listing the names of holding companies, associated companies or partnerships in which the applicant has interest.
• Names and address of two business referees.

Need for the Document

• A sugar dealer registration certificate authorizes the holder to conduct the business as a sugar dealer in Ghana.
• No person can act as a dealer unless he is the holder of a current registration certificate issued in respect thereof by the Board after consultation with the Director. Therefore dealers need to renew their certificates to continue with operations.
