Apply In-Person:
- Application for getting a license for water and sewerage in Tanzania is available in Energy and Water Utilities Regulatory Authority contact link
- Applicant must procure the application form for this service from the Energy and Water Utilities Regulatory Authority.
- Applicant has to enter all necessary details in the application form.
- Applicant must carry photocopies and originals of all documents that are required for completing this procedure.
- Documents that are required for completing this procedure is mentioned under “Required Documents” section of this page.
- Applicant has to attach photocopies of documents (whichever is necessary) along with the application form while submitting.
- Fee for this procedure has to be paid as per authority’s request.
- If all above-mentioned procedures were followed properly, the license will be provided within 1 month.
- Applicant will be notified regarding the availability of license, after getting the notification; the applicant can visit the office for collecting their license.
- If there is no notification provided by concerned authorities, the applicant can visit the office to know status of their application.

- CLASS I: License which shall be issued to a licensee who has a financial, technical and managerial capability to operate a licensed facility and recover all costs of operation.
- CLASS II: License which shall be issued to a licensee who has technical and managerial capability to operate a licensed facility and recover all costs of operation except part of its investment cost.
- CLASS III: License which shall be issued to a licensee who still gets financial, managerial and technical support from the Government and partially recover its operational costs.
