Procedure

Apply In-Person:

1. Application form for getting a permit or license for Medicine import in Tanzania is available in the Tanzania Revenue Authority Link
2. Applicant should make sure to provide all necessary information in the application form.
3. Applicant must make sure to carry both photocopies and originals of all documents that are needed for completing this procedure.
4. Documents that are needed for completing this procedure is mentioned under “Required Documents” section of this page.
5. Applicant must attach photocopies of documents and whichever original document is needed along with the application form while submitting it at the office.
6. Fee structure for this procedure is mentioned under “Fees” section of this page.
7. The applicant will be notified regarding the availability of permit within 129 to 169 days.
8. Applicant can visit the office and collect their permit once they got the notification.
9. If there is no notification provided by concerned authorities even after 129 to 169 days, then, the applicant can visit the office to know status of their application.

Eligibility

• Any individual or a business owner in Tanzania who is willing to import Medicine from any other country to Tanzania is eligible.

Fees

Fee for this procedure has to be paid according to the following list,

• TZS 300,000 premise registration fee
• TZS 50,000 Inspection fee
• TZS 4,631,495.26 registration fee of human, veterinary and biological medicine
• TZS 9,262,990.51 Fast Track Registration

Validity

• Import permit is valid for 3 months.

Instructions

• A person shall not import Medicine out of the country without a valid import permit issued by the Director.
• All Medicine for importation shall come from the registered animal feed premises in Mainland Tanzania.
• All Medicine shall be imported through an official port.

• Proforma invoice number and date
• Country of Origin
• Name of the Manufacturer
• Signature and Stamp of the supplier
• Packing list
