Procedure

1. To obtain a Driving Instructor Permit, you will need to submit an application to the Swedish Transport Agency.
2. A link is provided under "Documents to Use" section which you can use to download the application form.
3. You may send the completed application in person, by post or online:

   2. By email: Simply click the "Send form by e-mail" button.
4. The Swedish Transport Agency makes a decision on approval as a driving instructor. After this, the approval is recorded in the Swedish Transport Agency's register of instructors.

Required Documents

• Completed application
• Certified copy of valid passport,
• Certified copy of evidence of formal qualifications or attestation of competence,
• Certified copy of the certificate of professional experience as a driver instructor, where appropriate.
• A certificate from the competent authority showing the applicant with regard to their personal circumstances can be considered suitable for the profession. Certificates will be given by the competent authorities of the country or countries the applicant has stayed in over the past three years. Certificate must not be older than three months.
• Information of the competent driving license authority that shows how long the applicant has held a driving license and its validity and whether the license holder has had no driving license interventions. Account for driving licenses interventions to be made for the previous ten years or driving license holding's length, if it is less than ten years.

Eligibility

To obtain a Driving Instructor Permit, the applicant must:

• be aged 21 or over
• have a driving licence, category B issued in the EEA for a total of at least three of the last ten years
• have held a driving licence with such a category, and
• have the authorisation required for the training course.

What is a driving instructor?

A driving instructor teaches students undergoing driving instruction at a driving school. Anyone wishing to work as a driving instructor must be approved as a driving instructor by the Swedish Transport Agency (Transportstyrelsen).

Where to obtain a permit?

Driving Instructor Permits are issued by the Swedish Transport Agency.

The Agency makes a decision on approval as a driving instructor. After this, the approval is recorded in the Swedish Transport Agency's register of instructors.
