Apply In-Person:
- To Apply for Registration of Persons with Qualifications Obtained Outside South Africa (Homeopathy, Naturopathy and Phytotherapy), the applicant must go to The Allied Health Professions Council of South Africa’s (AHPCSA) office. Contact Link
- The application form must be obtained from the authorities at the AHPCSA office.
- Make sure that you have all the documents that are mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
- The application form must be filled with all the necessary details, and along with the required documents, it must be submitted to the Professional Board in AHPSCA office.
- The AHPCSA Administration will conduct the relevant confirmatory check in respect of work permits with the Department of Home Affairs.
- Then the application will be circulated to the Professional Board in the PDF to determine suitability for the AHPCSA board examination.
- The final decision of approval will be made combinedly by the Professional Board and the AHPSCA administration.
- If the details and the documents submitted by the applicant is valid and legitimate, then the registration will be approved.
- If the registration is approved, then the applicant must successfully complete the board exam conducted by the University of Western Cape for the registration of Phytotherapy or Naturopathy, and by the University of Johannesburg or the Durban University of Technology for the Homeopathy registration.
- The applicant must pay the examination fee stated by the respective University.
- After successfully completing the examination, the applicant will receive the Registration certificate from AHPSCA board.
- If the applicant was unable to successfully complete the board examination, then the application will be rejected by the AHPSCA board.
- The fee details and the processing time of the application will be intimated to the applicant while applying.

Required DocumentsEdit
- Application Form.
- Copy of South African identity document, or copy of valid foreign passport together with valid work permit that entitles the person to practice any of the said professions in South Africa either under the terms and conditions of employment or in private practice.
- Copy of qualification/s in Homeopathy, Naturopathy or Phytotherapy from an accredited institution of education and training.
- Copy of complete academic record for the full duration of studies.
- SAQA Certificate of Evaluation recognising the legal status of the institution of education and training and evaluation of the qualification/s as equivalent to: in the case of Naturopathy or Phytotherapy, an NQF level equal to or above the BSc in Complementary Health Science and a Bachelor of Complementary Medicine (Naturopathy or Phytotherapy); and, in the case of Homeopathy an NQF level equal to or above the South African Master’s degree of Technology in Homeopathy.
- Proof of registration with the relevant foreign statutory body.
- Original letter of good standing from relevant registering statutory body, which letter must state that the applicant does not have any pending disciplinary proceedings against them or been sanctioned in terms of any disciplinary proceedings. The letter of good standing shall not be older than 3 months.
- Police Clearance Certificate from the relevant foreign country of origin of the applicant.
- If the qualification is older than 5 years the applicant must provide a brief curriculum vitae, in order to establish whether the applicant has been practicing any of the said professions and thereby has kept up to date with the practice and the profession.

- Any individual who obtained the qualification in the field of Homeopathy, Naturopathy and Phytotherapy outside the South Africa is eligible to apply for the registration.

ValidityEdit
- The validity period of the registration will be intimate in the registration certificate issued to the applicant after completing the qualification exam conducted by the respective University.
