Apply In-Person:
- To Obtain Import and Export Permit for Human Tissue, Blood, Blood Products, Cultured Cells, Stem Cells, Embryos, Zygotes and Gametes, the applicant must go to the National Department of Health office in South Africa. Contact Link
- The respective application form for the export and import must be obtained from the authorities at the health department.
- Make sure that you have all the documents that are mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
- The application form must be filled with all the necessary details, and along with the required documents it should be submitted to the Director General at the health department.
- The application form will be verified by the health department for the import/export rules and regulations of the human substances.
- The human substances to be exported/imported will be inspected by the health department.
- If all the import/export permit requirements are fulfilled by the applicant, then the respective import/export permit will be approved to the applicant by the registrar.
- The fees for the export/import depends upon the human substances being exported/imported, therefore the fee details of the permit will be intimated while applying.
- The processing time to get the export/import permit for human substances will intimated to the applicant after applying.
Required DocumentsEdit
- Application form.
- A certificate from the national blood transfusion service stating that the blood or blood product has been tested in accordance with the Regulations Regarding Blood and Blood Products.
- The results of tests by National Blood Transfusion.
- Substantive motivation addressed to the Director-General in writing in a case of any deviation from the provisions.
- Other supporting documents based on the export/import substances of human origin.
