ProcedureEdit

Apply In Person

  1. To Apply for Instructor Rating License, the applicant has to approach the CIVIL AVIATION AUTHORITY link
  2. An application form will be provided to the applicant by the concerned officer. or it can be downloaded from the following link
  3. The applicant has to fill in all the necessary details in the application form. (Incomplete applications are not accepted)
  4. Make sure that the applicant has attached all the necessary documents that are mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
  5. The applicant has to attach photocopies of the required documents along with the application form while submitting it.
  6. Submit all the documents with the completed form to the concerned officer.
  7. The applicant has to pay the fee prescribed by the officer.
  8. After receiving the application, the concerned authority will check the submitted application and document set. If all are in place, the application will be accepted.
  9. Further process of verification will be done by the officer.
  10. The applicant has to complete the two phases of the exam.
  11. The applicant needs to complete 20 hours of ground preparation in which the applicant has to cover all the ground lectures. The applicant will prepare and present these lessons until they are of a satisfactory standard.
  12. After completing this, the applicant has to complete the SACAA exam.
  13. The second phase of the training will be to complete 20 hours of flight training and flight test.
  14. Once all the tests are completed successfully, the applicant will get the license from the office.
  15. This entire process can be completed within 5 - 6 weeks or as per the timeline advised by the respective department authority.

Need for the DocumentEdit

  • Flight Instructor Rating (FIR) is required to be held by Commercial Pilot Licence holders to be employed as a Flight Instructor (FI) to deliver lessons and training to students.
