ProcedureEdit

Apply Online:

  1. To Apply for Fuel Levy, the applicant must go to the South African Revenue Services’ (SARS) e-Filing portal website. Online Link
  2. On the given link, the applicant must register themselves by entering the necessary details asked on the webpage.
  3. After registering, the applicant must “Log in” with the newly created “Username and Password”
  4. If already registered in SARS, the applicant can directly “Login” using the Login credentials. Login Link
  5. On the main web page, the applicant must select the “Request Declaration” option.
  6. On the “Request Declaration” page, the applicant must enter the “Warehouse Number” that they possess, and must select the “Continue” option.
  7. After that the form will be generated on the screen.
  8. With the details generated on the form, the applicant needs to pay the “Fuel Tax” for the respective product on the SARS e-filing portal itself.
  9. There is no fee for filing the Fuel Tax on the e-Filing portal.
  10. The Fuel Tax for the Petroleum products can be accessed and paid immediately on the e-Filing portal.


Note: At any instance, if the applicant couldn’t access the e-filing portal, they can approach the nearest SARS Excise Branch office, and the issue will solved/assisted for the applicant. Contacts and Address Link

Need for the DocumentEdit

  • All the Petroleum products consumed by consumers within South African Customs Union are subject to the Fuel tax payment. Therefore, compulsorily all the manufacturers of Petroleum products must pay the fuel tax on the SARS portal.

  • The Petroleum products includes Petrol, Diesel, Bio-Diesel, Unmarked Aliphatic Hydrocarbon Solvents and Unmarked Illuminating Kerosene (Unmarked Paraffin) are subject to fuel tax consumed within the Southern African Customs Union (SACU).
