Procedure

Apply In-Person:

1. To Apply for Community Sound Broadcasting Licence, the applicant must go to the Independent Communications Authority of South Africa’s (ICASA) office. Contact Link
2. The application form must be obtained from the authorities at the ICASA office, else the application form can be downloaded from the official website linked here. Application Form Link
3. Make sure that you have all the documents that are mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
4. The application form must be filled with all the necessary details, and along with the required documents, it must be submitted to the respective officer in the ICASA department.
5. The authorities will verify the application and the documents submitted by the applicant.
6. Then the application will be forwarded to the SATRA for analysing the business plan.
7. After verification, if all the details are legitimate then the Community Sound Broadcasting Licence will be will be approved combinedly by the ICASA and SATRA.

9. The processing time to get the Community Sound Broadcasting Licence will take approximately 6 to 12 months.
