Apply In-Person:
- To apply for Certificate of Income for Disposal of Unit Trusts or Other Financial Instruments in person, the applicant must visit the nearest branch of South African Revenue Services.

- Visit the nearest SARS branch and obtain Certificate of Income for Disposal of Unit Trusts or other Financial Instruments - External (IT3 (c) Form) from the relevant department. Or click here to download: Link
- Make sure that you have all the documents listed in the “Required documents” section of this page.
- Complete the form as required with relevant details under respective sections. After completing the application form, attach the required documents with the completed form.
- Then, proceed to submit the application package to the relevant authority at the office in person for further processes. Make the necessary payment as directed (if any).
- After submission, the completed form and corresponding documents will be put into further verification and validation processes.
- Once all the processes got completed, the authorities will perform necessary actions for the certificate issuance as per the applicant’s request.
Apply Online - Apply for Certificate of Income for Disposal of Unit Trusts or Other Financial Instruments Online with Images
- To apply for Certificate of Income for Disposal of Unit Trusts or Other Financial Instruments online, visit the official website of the South African Revenue Service by clicking the following link: Link
- If you are already registered as a taxpayer and have the user credentials, click “Login” button and enter the username, click “Next” button and enter Password, click “Next” button.
- Otherwise, in the page that appears click “Register” button on the top of the page. In registration page, enter the personal details and click “Next” button. In next page, enter contact and login details and click “Next” button.
- Since you a new applicant, you have to provide your personal information in next page. Fill the mandatory fields and click “Submit” button. The “Registration Request Received” message will appear and your case number will be displayed which you should use to follow up on your registration case.
- Click “continue” button to proceed to upload documents or “save for later” button to continue this process later. If you click “continue” button, you will be redirected to a page where you can upload the required documents by clicking “Upload” button, after uploading click “Submit” button.
- Confirm submission dialogue will appear. Click “Continue” button if you are sure or “cancel” button if you want to recheck. After this, you will be redirected to the beginning page. You can click “Query status” button to check the status of application.
- The application is in progress and you will be prompted to upload more required documents in your work page. Upload the relevant and required documents as instructed and click “Submit” button and complete the registration process as prompted.
- Once your documents have been validated the “Complete Registration” button will be displayed on your Registration Work page. Click on “Complete Registration” button. You will be prompted to select your preferred method of communication for eFiling security purposes.
- Select either ‘Cell number’ option or ‘Email’ option and click “Continue” button. The One Time Pin (OTP) page will be displayed which requests you to complete the last 6 digits of your OTP sent through to your preferred method of communication.
- Complete the OTP and click on “Submit” button. If the OTP completed is correct, a message will be displayed indicating you are now registered for eFiling. Upon completion of your registration, you are now required to login to the SARS eFiling website by making use of your Username and Password.
- After logging in, locate the “Organisations” menu in the portal and select “Organisation Tax Types” option under the menu, Select the check box corresponding to the “IT3” product, enter the Income Tax Reference number and click the “Register” button to continue.
- Then, Select the “Organisations” menu and access “Rights Group” option in the menu and click “Manage Groups” option. The Group Details page will open, click “Open” button in the page.
- On the appearing screen, select the “IT3 / Medical Scheme Contributions / Insurance Payments” option. Click the “Update” button to continue and the Third Party Data functionality is activated on your eFiling profile.
- After this, the user may be required to complete some necessary processes which will be intimated to the user by the respective SARS branch officials. After the completion of the required processes, again log in into your eFiling profile and proceed to complete IT3 return.
- Locate the “Returns” menu in the website and select “Submit new data” option under “Third Party Data” tab so that “IT3” button can be enabled. Click on it and The Saved Data Submissions page will be displayed. Click on the period dropdown arrow and select the period that you wish to submit data for. Click on the “Capture New Data” button to continue.
- Data Submission Work page will be displayed. Click on the “IT3” hyperlink to open the form. The first page of the IT3 return will be displayed in which you have to select the “IT3(c) - Certificate of income in respect of the disposal of unit trust or other financial instruments” check box.
- Now, proceed to complete the certificate by filling the required information under relevant fields and once completed, click on “File Return” button to submit the completed form to SARS.
- After submission, the completed form and corresponding documents will be put into further verification and validation processes.
- Once all the processes got completed, the authorities will perform necessary actions for the certificate issuance as per the applicant’s request.
