Procedure

Apply Online

1. To obtain Supermarket License, the applicant has to make the application in GoBusiness licensing portal or tap the following link
2. Enter a search “Supermarket Licence” then click on "Add to selection"> click on "Review and Apply" and then click the "Proceed" button.
3. The applicant can also make a search by clicking the “Government Agencies” and select “Singapore Food Agency” SFA and choose the appropriate service.

   Note: If you don’t not have an account, you can register by clicking on register now, read the information marked 1 and 2 and agree to the terms and condition and click on register now, no the next page entry your personal information and submit. You will be issued with you Sing Pass ID number and password.

4. The applicant has to provide the general information and application details.
5. The applicant will receive an In- principle Approval (IPA) via email form the Singapore Food Agency.
6. The applicant has to prepare the documents stated in the IPA and upload them in GoBusiness licensing portal under "submitted documents" tab of your application that are mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
7. After successful submission Book pre-licensing inspection, make an appointment for inspection 7 days in advance via SFA online feedback form at feedback form
8. The authorized officer will inspect the supermarket. Upon full compliance to licensing requirements and submission of required documents, SFA will approve the application. You will receive a notification via email and GoBusiness within 3 working days.
9. The applicant has to pay the prescribed fee given in the “Fees” section of this page.
10. SFA will post out the hardcopy licences within 7 working days upon successful payment.

• Letter of authorization (if filer option is selected)

• Layout plan of the premises
• Tenancy Agreement/ Letter of consent
• Pest Control Contract
• Cleaning programme/schedule
• Basic food hygiene certificate/Refresher food hygiene certificate and Work Permit
• Valid HACCP certificate accepted by SFA
• Letter issued by the "WSQ Apply FSMS for Food Service Establishments" course Approved Training Organisations

Eligibility

Any person who intends to open a supermarket are eligible to make this application.

Fees

• For supermarket with area less than 200 square metres$250.00
• For supermarket with area more than 200 square metres $500.00
  

Validity

The validity of the license is one year.

Need for the Document

For Supermarket retailers, a supermarket license is necessary pursuant to the environment public health act. This ensures that handling of food suppliers (raw or cooked food) is at par with acceptable food hygiene standards.
