DHPs can be used to address shortfalls in Housing Benefit, which is a government subsidy provided to eligible individuals or households to assist with their rental payments. If the Housing Benefit awarded is insufficient to cover the full rent, a DHP can be used to bridge the gap and ensure the tenant can meet their housing costs.
