Diplomatic missions and their members may submit a request to the Protocol Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) to issue a diplomatic body plate of a vehicle.
Apply In-Person
- The first step for members of Diplomatic missions and offices to obtain a diplomatic number plate is making a request to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs through its Protocol Department. This is done by writing an official letter requesting Diplomatic body plate and submit the letter to the Protocol Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
- The next step is visiting the Protocol Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in person to make the application. Here will be issued with a “Request for a Diplomatic Body Plate” form to fill and submit. This form can also be downloaded from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs MOFA Website or it can be downloaded from the following link : for a Diplomatic Body Plate
- Fill in the form electronically and print the filled-in application form.
- Attach the required documents to the application form and submit them to the Protocol Department Offices of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. These documents include:
- Letter to the Department to issue a diplomatic plate, mentioning the number required
- Copy of establishment registration card of the diplomatic mission
- Copy of diplomatic card
- Copy of car ownership (two-sided), in case of purchasing a second-hand car
- Copy of trade bill from the car company (in case of purchasing a new car)
- Copy of diplomatic or managerial ID card of the seller (in case of purchasing a second-hand car)
- The Protocols Department’s officials will go through the application and if everything is in the order they will begin processing the Diplomatic Body Plate.
- All the required condition should be met before submitting the application form.
- The application process may take a period of two to three days to complete.
- Once ready the applicant will be notified to visit the Protocol Department Offices to be issued with the new Diplomatic Body Plate.
- The application is issued free of charge by the principle of reciprocity.
