Procedure

Apply In Person:

1. To Obtain a Movement Certificate, the applicant has to approach the Civil Registration Office link or the Ministry of Economy link.
2. An application form will be provided to the applicant by the concerned officer.
3. Ensure that the applicant has attached all the necessary documents mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
4. The applicant has to attach photocopies of the required documents along with the application form while submitting it.
5. Submit all the documents with the completed form to the concerned officer.
6. The applicant has to pay the prescribed fee as requested by the authority.
7. After receiving the application, the concerned authority will check the submitted application and document set. If all are in place, the application will be accepted.
8. An acknowledgment receipt will be provided. Please save it for future reference.
9. Then the application will be processed further and all the updates on the application status will be notified through email or by SMS.
10. Once the process gets completed successfully, the applicant can collect it from the Ministry of Economy's office or request that it be sent to the applicant via mail or email.
11. This entire process can be completed within 2 – 3 weeks or as per the timeline advised by the respective department authority.

Need for the Document

• A Movement Certificate in Mexico, also known as a Certificado de Origen or Certificate of Origin, is a document that certifies the origin of goods being exported from Mexico to another country with which Mexico has a free trade agreement.

• The purpose of the Movement Certificate is to provide evidence that the goods being exported were produced or manufactured in Mexico, or that they meet the rules of origin requirements established by the free trade agreement between Mexico and the destination country. This allows the goods to receive preferential treatment under the free trade agreement, such as reduced or zero tariffs.
