Procedure

Apply In Person

1. To apply for a motor vehicle removal permit, the applicant should make the application to the National Land Transport Authority (NLTA) head office or at the NLTA Vehicle Examination Centres at Plaine Lauzun and Forest Side. Please view the NLTA contact details through this Contact details.
2. The applicant should visit one of the mentioned offices in step one above along with the documents stated in the “Required Documents” section below and obtain the application form for the removal permit.
3. Complete the application form accordingly and attach all the required supporting documents to the application form in a single file.
4. Then pay the permit fee at the cash desk of the office and obtain the payment receipt.
5. Upon making the payment of the requisite fee, the applicant should then submit the application file to the NLTA official at the service desk.
6. The official will verify the documents and check if all the required documents are attached.
7. Upon completion of the verification process, the official will initiate the processing of the permit.
8. The Permit will be processed and issued to the applicant. Note that the permit is issued for a maximum of three days.

• Completed application form specifying the date/s and the planned route to be followed.
• The vehicle’s registration book or any other document containing information about the vehicle.
• An insurance cover for the day/s on which the vehicle will be moved.

Eligibility

• Owners of a motor vehicle that does not have a valid motor vehicle license and the vehicle cannot be used on roads are eligible to apply.

Fees

• The application fee for the permit is Rs. 300 per day.

Validity

• The permit is valid for a maximum of three days.
