Apply In Person
- To apply for Apostille of documents i.e Legalisation of Documents, the applicant should make the application to the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) at this address: New Government Centre, 2nd Floor. Veiw the Prime Minister's Office’s contact details in “Office Locations & Contacts” section below.
- Prepare the documents to be apostilled and the National Identification card of the applicant. Note that any person applying for an apostille on behalf of another person must produce the applicant's Identity Card, along with their Identity Card.
- Then the applicant should visit the POM office and pay the apostille application fee as explained in the “Fees” section below at the cash section and obtain the payment receipt.
- Upon payment of the requisite apostille fee, the applicant should submit the document/s to be apostilled along with their identity card and the payment receipt to the official at the apostille service desk. Note that an applicant applying on behalf of Companies, Notaries, Solicitors, Travel Agents, etc, should produce a letter clearly stating the number and description of documents each time they are submitted.
- Once the documents are submitted, the official at the service desk will verify the documentation and issue the applicant an apostille acknowledgment receipt with the application details. Note that the Submission of documents to be apostilled is from 9 am to 3 pm.
- Then the document/s will be forward to the responsible authority for legalization.
- The document/s will be authenticated by the authority thereby legalizing them as required by law.
- Then the applicant should visit the Prime Minister's Office in two days from the day of the apostille application between 10.00 am to 2.00 pm with the acknowledgment receipt and collect the legalized document. Note if the applicant loses the Apostille acknowledgment receipt, the applicant should produce a letter stating the document they submitted and its proper description.
Abroad Application
- To apply for Apostille of documents i.e Legalisation of Documents form abroad, the applicants should contact the Mauritius diplomatic mission in the country that he/she is currently residing in first and schedule an appointment if required.Please view the Mauritius Diplomatic Mission contact details through this Mauritius Diplomatic Missions Abroad contact.
- Then the applicant should visit the embassy office with their identification document and submit the original copy of the document they wish to legalize to the attending officer. Note that any person applying for an apostille on behalf of another person must produce the applicant's and his/her identification document.
- Pay the required processing fee, upon which you will be issued with an acknowledgment receipt. Please note that the processing fee varies between embassies.
- Upon legalizing of copies of the documents submitted, you will be notified, re-visit the embassy with the acknowledgment receipt and identification document and collect your apostilled document/s on the turn around date mentioned in the acknowledgment receipt.
