ProcedureEdit

Apply In-Person:

  1. To Export Prepared Food Stuffs in person, the applicant should contact the Mauritius Agricultural Services Contact link
  2. Applicants should obtain the necessary application form from the Mauritius Agricultural Services.
  3. The Applicant must provide all necessary information in the application form, such as the purpose of import, details of food and any required health and safety measures for transport, to successfully complete their application.
  4. The applicant should also ensure that all the necessary documents such as Transport and Transit Documents, health certificate and they can be found under the “Required Document” section of this page.
  5. The applicant is required to submit the duly completed form to the Mauritius Agricultural Services via email - [email protected] to proceed further with the application process and should ensure that all the information provided is accurate and up to date.
  6. The Mauritius Agricultural Services will review the application to ensure that all necessary information and documents are presented to make an informed decision and may request additional information or documents if further details are required.
  7. If the application is approved, the applicant will be issued with an Export Permit which will be valid for a specified period and must be presented, along with all other required documents, to the relevant authorities at the port or airport of departure.
  8. The applicant will be required to pay the applicable fees and the fees details can be found under the "Fees" section of this page.
  9. The applicant will then be required to arrange for the shipment of the food to its destination. The applicant should also ensure that all necessary documentation, including the Export Permit, is presented to the relevant authorities at the port or airport of departure.
  10. Upon arrival at the destination, the applicant should ensure that the food is inspected by the local authorities and the necessary documentation is presented to them.
  11. The applicant should also ensure that all necessary measures are taken to ensure that the food reached its destination in a safe and suitable condition.
  12. Upon completion of all necessary procedures, the applicant can then proceed with the export of the food from Mauritius.
  13. The processing time for this procedure takes 3-4 weeks.

EligibilityEdit

  • In Mauritius, any company registered with the Board of Investment (BOI) and the Export Processing Zone Authority (EPZA) is eligible to export prepared food stuffs.
  • Companies must comply with the regulations set out by the Mauritius Revenue Authority and the Ministry of Health. They must also comply with the export laws of their destination country.



FeesEdit

  • Payment of import fee of Rs500 per animal and veterinary clearance fee of Rs500, as applicable at time of application.


Other charges are as follows:

  • Rent of kennel/cattery - Rs15 per day per animal.
  • The cost of food will be settled at the end of each month if they do not provide food for your dog/cat - Rs25 per day per animal.

  • The permit is valid for six months from the date it is issued.
