Apply In Person:
- Obtain an Application Form: To Get Permit or License for Craft Breweries in person, the applicant should contact the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Consumer Protection in Mauritius. - Determine the type of permit or license needed: In Mauritius, craft breweries must obtain a brewing license before they can start producing beer.
- Gather business information: The applicant should collect all the information about the business, including its name, address, legal structure, and financials, before submitting the application.
- Prepare application: Craft breweries in Mauritius must fill out an application provided by the government. The application requires information about the business, the type of beer to be produced, the amount of beer to be produced, and the location of the brewery.
- Gather necessary documents: Along with the application form, the applicant will need to provide copies of their business plan, proof of financial responsibility, and proof of their brewing qualifications and they can be found under the ‘Required Documents” section of this page.
- Submit the application: Craft breweries must submit their application to the Mauritius Ministry of Commerce and Industry.

- Wait for approval. Once the application is submitted, the Ministry will review the application and determine if the brewery is eligible for a brewing license.
- Complete the inspections: If the application is approved, the brewery must complete inspections from the Ministry before the license can be issued.
- Receive the notification: Once all inspections are complete, the applicant will be notified by email or telephone of the results after the inspections and will be provided with further instructions at that time.
- Obtain the license: Then the applicant should go to the relevant local authorities and the applicant will be issued a brewing license.
- Comply with regulations: Craft breweries must comply with all the regulations set by the government. This includes keeping detailed records of all the ingredients and production processes, as well as adhering to all safety standards.
- Generally, the process can take up to six weeks.

- In Mauritius, anyone over the age of 18 who has a valid license to operate a craft brewery is eligible to obtain a permit or license.
- The applicant must also meet all requirements as stipulated by the Mauritian Ministry of Health and Quality of Life.
