ProcedureEdit

Apply In-Person:

  1. To import Wildlife Specimen from Nigeria, the applicant has to first register as a Wildlife specimen importer with the Federal Ministry of Environment.
  2. The address and contact details of the office can be found in the following page: contact link
  3. Visit the office and obtain an application form for registration as a Wildlife specimen Importer.
  4. Make sure that you have all the documents listed in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
  5. Complete the application form with required details and information in respective fields under relevant sections.
  6. Attach the required documents with the completed application form and submit it in person to the relevant authority at the office.
  7. Also, pay the required fees for the registration as directed by the officials.
  8. After submission, the application and other documents will be forwarded for examination and verification processes.
  9. An inspection will also take place at the organizational premises of the exporter by the Environmental officers.
  10. Once the verification and validation processes are over, the application will be approved and the officials will proceed to take required steps to issue the Registration Certificate.
  11. When the document is ready to be collected, the applicant will receive a formal notification from the office and the applicant can collect it by any applicable means.

EligibilityEdit

  • Any organization in Nigeria, that wishes to involve in Wildlife Specimen import for commercial purpose, can apply.
  • The specimen to be imported should be in the list of permitted specimen with respect to the Protection of Endangered Species in International Trade Regulations.
