ProcedureEdit

Apply In-Person:

  1. To apply for Marine Insurance Certificate in person, the applicant has to first contact a licensed Marine Insurance company/agent as applicable to his/her convenience.
  2. The applicant can seek any information from the National Insurance Commission about the Marine Insurance companies, contact details of which can be found in the below contact link
  3. The applicant can also contact the Nigeria Ports Authority regarding the matter: contact link
  4. Respective officials will provide information regarding insurance companies and insurance application process.
  5. Choose one among them and contact that one to know the procedure for obtaining a Marine Insurance.
  6. Then, make a visit to the office with the documents as mentioned by the official of the particular Insurance Company and also as mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
  7. Approach the relevant authority and obtain a quote by completing a Marine Insurance application form which will be issued by the authority.
  8. With respect to information provided, he/she will frame a quote and present it to you in some time.
  9. Choose a plan of instalment for making the premium payment and submit the required documents as instructed.
  10. Complete the process by following the instructions and you will have to sign an agreement policy document.
  11. Carefully go through the terms and conditions and sign the policy with proper knowledge, then hand over it back to the authority.
  12. Necessary internal processes will take place after that and once all the internal processes are over, you will be issued with a Certificate for reference which will contain your policy particulars with prior intimation.
