The VSVP Act 2011 also allows for temporary registration of foreign Veterinary Surgeons under restrictions. Apply In-Person
- To register as a Temporary registration as a foreign Veterinary Surgeons the applicant has to contact/visit the Kenya Veterinary Board offices to make the application.
- Here you will be issued with an application form 24 which you have to fill and submit. The application form can also be down loaded from their website through the following link.
- The applicant has to make sure he or she has all the required documents that are required for this process to be successful. A list of these documents can be found under the "Required Documents" section of this page or at KVB registration requirements page.
- Submit the completed application form and required documents.
- Proceed to pay the appropriate fees and submit the payment receipt. The amount of fees to be paid can be found under the "Fees" section of this page or at KVB registration fees page.
- The Board shall approve the application in accordance with the criteria set out under section 16 of the VSVP Act 2011.
- The Board shall, on approval of the application, issue the applicant with a temporary registration certificate.
- On Completion of this process, the applicant will receive the written confirmation within seven (7) days after the Board's approval.
- A foreign veterinary surgeon may practice if he/she is issued with an annual practicing license.

- Academic certificates (Not result slip)
- Professional certificates
- National Identity Card/Passport
- Passport size photograph
- Registration document from professional association.
- A Filled in Application form for registration.
- Paid application fee receipt.

EligibilityEdit
- A foreigner who is qualified as a veterinary surgeon in their home country and wishes to practice in Kenya with volunteer non-profit organizations recognized by the Kenya Veterinary Board, which provide veterinary services in underserved areas or go into private practice.

- The current application fee is set at USD 1,000
- Application fees can be paid directly to Cooperative Bank, Westlands Branch,Ac no 01141151721300 and banking slip presented to KVB. Include your name in the narrative.

- The registration validity is forever, however one has to renew the practice license fees annually

Need for the DocumentEdit
- One needs to be registered as veterinary surgeon to be able to practice in Kenya.
- Any person who practices veterinary medicine or surgery without having been registered by The Board commits an offence and shall be liable, on conviction, to a fine not exceeding one hundred thousand shillings or to imprisonment for a term not exceeding twelve months, or to both.

- The Board may in its discretion require an applicant under this section to undertake such examination as it may prescribe to satisfy itself that the applicant’s knowledge and skill qualify such person for registration.
- The examination referred to above may be conducted by the Board or by any other authority or institution appointed by the Board, and such examination shall be conducted subject to such terms and conditions as the Board may determine.
- A person registered by the Board shall swear or affirm the oath set out in the veterinary surgeons and veterinary paraprofessionals act 2011 (VSVP Act 2011), and shall be entitled to have his name entered in the register maintained by the Registrar for that purpose.
- Every registered person shall be issued with a certificate of registration in the prescribed form which shall be signed by the Registrar.
