Ordering Online
- Make sure that you have a valid credit card before you begin the process.
- Be ready with the following information:
- Applicant
- Spouse
- Fill in all the required information on the Online Certificate Ordering Window.
- Your online order must be completed in one session. You cannot save it on your computer, if you stop typing for more than 30 minutes, your order will time out and all information entered will be erased.
- Scan and attach an authorization form in case the applicant is not eligible to apply for a marriage certificate. A screen will be provided during ordering process to allow you to search your computer for the signed authorization information and attach the file.
- Print your payment receipt, you will need the Order number indicated on the receipt when you communicate with Saskatchewan Vital Statistics.

- Mail: Send your request to, eHealth Saskatchewan, Vital Statistics Registry, 2130 11th Avenue, Regina, SK S4P 0J5. Mail orders can be paid by money order, cheque or credit card. Please make money orders and cheques payable to eHealth Saskatchewan. Money orders must be in Canadian Dollars.

EligibilityEdit
Individuals who may request a marriage certificate:
- Either party to the marriage
- An adult child of the marriage
- A person authorized in writing by an eligible person (party to or child of marriage)
- The legal custodian or personal or property guardian of an eligible person. Must present a copy of the Court Order, Custody Agreement or other legal documents.
- Representative of the estate of an eligible person.The application must be accompanied by a copy of the subject individuals Will or Letters Probate or Letters of Administration or Court Order appointing the Applicant as the personal representative. In case the Applicant do not have the said document, then he/she must submit a letter to the Registrar with a satisfactory explanation of how the Applicant is the personal representative of the subject individuals estate and the letter of the Applicant and signature will serve as a declaration statement.
- A person that needs to prove Mtis or Treaty status. The application must either include a letter from the Mtis Nation-Saskatchewan or Aboriginal Affairs and Northern Development Canada (AANDC) supporting the request or the application must be from MN-S/AANDC with a consent letter from the person seeking to prove parentage.
- A Saskatchewan Court order or subpoena can be presented by an individual to legally request a certificate, copy, or extract from any Vital event. A copy of the court document must accompany the application.

For manual processing you may receive your Vital Statistics Certificates within 12 business days or 5 business days if you availed of the Priority Service.

Ordering documents online is much faster and easier, fees are paid using a credit card. Those who do not have a valid credit card must go through the manual process of submitting their request.

Need for the DocumentEdit
Marriage is a legal contract binding two people together, granting them rights and obligations. A Marriage Certificate is an official statement that two people are married.
A copy of the marriage certificate is often necessary when you apply for administrative procedures such as obtaining a passport or applying for certain social benefits.
Types of Marriage Certificate:
Small Certificate
- It states the full name of each spouse, date of marriage, place of marriage, registration number and registration date.
Frame Certificate
- It states the full name of each spouse, date of marriage, place of marriage, registration number and registration date.
Genealogical Photocopy
- Contains all of the information that appears on the original marriage registration and has a stamp saying "FOR GENEALOGY ONLY"
- This type of document is usually used to gather family history (trees) - anyone can get a Genealogical Photocopy of someone's marriage, as long as the Marriage happened more than 75 years ago.
Certified Photocopy
- Contains all of the information that appears on the original marriage registration.
