==Procedure==
1.When an asylum seeker arrives in Cambodia, he / she should report to the refugee office as soon as possible.
*At the office, the asylum seeker must fill application for obtaining asylum status.

2.The application should be submitted along with support documents;

3.When submission is made, refugee officers assess the submitted documents to ensure that they are true copies.
*In the due course of assessing, an applicant is called for an interview and further investigations are made if necessary;

4.Thereafter, an applicant waits for the refugee office to decide on whether to approve application or reject it.

==Instructions==

1.Upon arrival in the country, an asylum seeker must report presence to authority;

2.Immediately submit application;

3.An applicant must have a good cause for illegal entry into the country;

4.Applications must be submitted with supporting documents;

5.Submit as many identification documents as you can;

6.Always carry original documents to an interview;

7.Be ready to follow the laws, rules and regulations of the country if application is approved;

8.During their stay I the country, applicants must engage in any activities against public interest;

9.Should not be in war with home country or any other country;

10.Prosecution should not be as a result of commitment of serious crime against humanity;

11.Must not engage in activities against any other country while in the country;

12.Rights may be revoked by the if need arises;

==Need for the Document==
Asylum is a legal status acquired by a foreign citizen in a given country in order to receive protection against persecution in home country. Persecution should be as a result of either war based on religious, political or tribal differences. To apply for asylum therefore means applying to legally receive protection in a foreign country. In Cambodia, maters of asylum seekers are handled by the immigration minister with support partnering world organizations.

It is important to note that the Cambodian law does not protect asylum seekers from being returned home where they may be innocently killed or tortured;

*It ensures protection to people running away from home due to insecurities;
*The applicants if successful receive a place to stay if required;
*Applicants are able to enjoy social benefits like access to education, medical services, food among others;
*Successful applicants have a right to apply for travel documents, citizenship and national identification documents and have a right to be employed in the country.
