New page

==Procedure==
*To apply for refugee status, you must find your way to a Belgium Embassy or Consulate or, preferably, to an office of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR).
*There, you will be asked to prepare and submit Application Form and other documents, including a promise by a Belgium sponsor (usually an organization) to support your resettlement efforts.
*But that's not all.
*You'll be asked to provide proof of your persecution and a detailed affidavit explaining what happened and why you are afraid to return to your home country.
*The affidavit is particularly important and should spell out the details of what has happened to you and what you fear would happen if you returned.
(It's not enough to say something general like, "I was persecuted." you should explain more about the kinds of persecution that may entitle you to protection,
*You'll also need to undergo a medical examination.
*After submitting your application, you will meet with an overseas asylum officer who will make a decision on your case.
*If approved, you will be given a visa that you can use to enter the Belgium.
*If your application for refugee status is denied, there is no opportunity for appeal.
*You can as well include on your Applicant files of your family or relative petition along with documents verifying relationship for instance marriage certificates and birth certificates;
*Documents are viewed by the authorized office to confirm relationships and eligibility;
*After viewing documents are either approved or rejected;
*If approved, the application is then forwarded to the immigration office or appropriate embassy.
*Beneficiaries are interviewed to verify identity.
==Need for the Document==
If you think you qualify for a refugee status, here's how to prove it to the Belgium government. People who are given refugee status in Belgium are entitled to special legal protections under Belgium immigration laws. If you think you are eligible for these protections you will need to follow the requirements of the refugee status application process and prove your case to the Belgium government.

The difference between Asylum and refugee status come about where you apply from. If you want to be considered as a refugees you must apply from outside Belgium, while those people who apply for asylum visa must apply either at a Belgium border (including airports, seaports, and the like) or from within the Belgium. Here is an overview of the application process for refugee status.
